Re: Fairy Castle fungal (?) affliction
Thank you Steve. I just went through your stick post - awesome... so helpful. Yes, it is the mites. The climate here around the time this attack occurred (rainy/winter season) is 25-30C, unusually dry this year. Coastal town with very high humidity. This according to your post points to flat mites. ...

Re: Grusonii developing white/dryskin spots,rash.
Harald, thank you very much for your response. Indeed the one which you identified as due to mechanical injury did suffer some scratches. Only previously such abrasions, pricks, scrapes would result in dead skin but of a less white color..more dull cream. This time its bright (on a few other grusoni...

I water every two weeks in this cooler season, and once a week in the hotter months. Here its hot and hum...

Fairy Castle fungal (?) affliction
I have four fairy castle plants in 6 inch clay pots. Two of them developed this - seems like a fungus. It shows up on the apex first. makes the skin look dry and the plant loses its greenish sheen. Does anyone have experience with this? How to treat it? The other two are turning brown/pale browish r...

Grusonii developing white/dryskin spots,rash.
A few of my Grusonii developed white dots and rashes while I was away for a month. Posting pictures of two different plants. The plants are about a foot wide and a bit longer, more than 10 years old. One has just white/dry-skin spots right now, the other a bigger patch of what looks like dry skin. T...

Re: Yellowing Cactus can use your help...
Thanks a lot Greenknight. Changed it to a deeper smaller pot, befitting its size. Also added more gravel to the mix. If it does recover, I will post a pic and thank again

Yellowing Cactus can use your help...
Inherited this cactus which was potted in a clay bowl-pot too large for it. What do you think is the problem? Is it overwatering/wetness? The white spots were scales, i removed them a toothbrush and sprayed insecticide. Lives in a glasshouse, humid climate, high temps of India. Also any id on what c...

Re: Sick Peyote (?) in India.
Depends on what you're calling "sand" -- if it's so fine that it'll clump up in your fist, you'll have a lot of trouble growing anything with it in a mix. Pumice gravel (AKA horticultural pumice) is excellent, although I don't know if you can find it in your part of India. If you can't, t...

Re: Sick Peyote (?) in India.
Thanks guys... when i took it out of the pot, the soil was damp, and had a more clayey/soil look than porous. So I am thinking its from overwatering/dampness. Its quite firm as of now, so hoping it will take new roots if I rehabilitate it in some sand. Will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for ...
