Thank you!
I should have mentioned that I am currently in Israel. Not sure if that would change the answer!

Cactus identification
Hello!
I would like to identify this cactus but no one in the greenhouse knows the name. I would appreciate any help.
Sorry that the picture is sideways.
Thanks!

Re: Opuntia (?) help
Amy, unless I am totally mistaken, your "terrifying cut" will result in more prickly pear plants than you might want to have. Because you do have several pieces that you could propagate, you should be able to grow several Opuntia plants from the material from the one dismembered cac...

Re: Opuntia (?) help
You are correct with your assumption, Amy. Scale insects do pry off rather easily. There are two kinds of scale, the armored scale (Diaspididae) and the soft scale (Coccidae). Coccidae members are generally larger in size, but they too are easily removed from a plant. You would not need to scour in...

Re: Opuntia (?) help
After scraping what was thought to have been scale- I am not so sure that’s what it was considering how it was hard to get off and from what I’ve read scale would be easier? Could be wrong though... Either way, you live and you learn but things have gone down hill I’m wondering whether I should dig ...

Re: Cactus IDx 2
First is not a cactus(and please rotate the photos before uploading)-probably a euphorbia horrida(caution-plant has very toxic milky sap ) and is etiolated(dont have euphorbias, so cant tell you how to deal with it) Second is a pilosocereus gouenelii-reccomend moving to brighter are to avoid furthe...

Should I scrape all except where the arm is?
The last time I posted the pictures the correct way you had told me to rotate sideways which is why I did it this time, was unsure why you were asking that...

Scale and frost bite?
After being advised on these very helpful boards that another cactus of mine had scale, I began to worry. When I bought this one I was told it got frost bite (the darker spots) so I assumed that’s what everything on it was. Now I’m afraid that it’s also scale. Thoughts? I did try scrapping a few pie...

Re: Thimble cactus pups
The lady I purchased it from made it seem like the cactus fell apart in transit to her so I was told to remove them.
Thanks for clearing that up for me!
I’ll return to the pot

Would a spray of alcohol or soapy water be the answer for the bugs?

Thimble cactus pups
I’m pretty sure, but not 100%, that this is a thimble cactus When I got it there were loose pups so I removed all of them except two ( the smallest ones in the planter) Should the other two be removed as well? And do you think they are ready to be planted or can they lay on the soil for a while? Tha...
