Shriveled Pereskiopsis
Hey folks, I've been grafting for about a year and a half now, and I'm noticing that some of my Pereskiopsis grafts aren't looking so hot. I've attached some pictures to show you what I mean, but essentially the root stock on some of the grafts is starting to shrivel up. I know Pere is not a permane...

Re: Astrophytum flecks...can be removed?
Thanks for all the replies, folks. Just to clarify the last thing I want to do is remove the flecks, but I had a mild case of mealy bugs and I wanted some way to differentiate plant flecks vs. mealies. This way I could remove the bugs, and not the flecks. The alcohol is a great idea, thanks for the ...

Re: Help with pest identification
Many thanks for the help Jerry. I think what threw me off were the fact that it looks like they have wings, but that may just be the gleam of their thorax. Additionally I didn't notice too much jumping at first, but as of late when watering it looks like a trampoline convention down there. Really ha...

Help with pest identification
Hey folks, Looking for some help identifying pests in my seedlings. I've been thinking these were fungus gnats for a while now, but I'm noticing they don't care much for flying. I know fungus gnats are weak flyers, but to date I've not seen any of them fly and the yellow traps I've set up here and t...

Astrophytum flecks...can be removed?
So, I'm pretty partial to Astrophytums, and as a result I've collected quite a few plants. I'm reaching that plant saturation point where I'm starting to get random problems here and there, and one of these problems was a mild case of mealybugs and scale. This prompted me to start checking my other ...

Re: Yellowing seedlings
Strangely enough, they've gone to more of a sickly green with some yellowing/orange tint on the sides.

Was this me?
I recently bought a few Astrophytum Myriostigmas (about a week and a half ago I'd say) and this morning I noticed strange brown spots around the baseline of one of the plants. Astro1.jpg Sadly, going to touch it, it was slightly mushy and smelled...very distinct. I unearthed it...and wow. Look at th...

Yellowing seedlings
Hello to all! Question--I've been starting to get some yellowing seedlings recently, and I'm not really sure why. The seedlings in question tend to be older. I grow all of my seedlings with an indoor LED setup in baggies. I'd love to post pictures, but honestly they aren't all that helpful given tha...

Re: who uses cinnamon
I used it a few times with fungal infections on seedlings. Never helped terribly, but I'll admit I only tried it a couple of times.

Watering Seedlings after the Baggie method
Well, it's been since October and some of my seedlings are getting the "mini cactus" look in that they are starting to look like small versions of their adult forms. I read somewhere on this forum that this is usually a good time to start treating them like adults. I know this can differ f...

Obregonia brown spots
So I'm wondering what are these spots...appeared a few weeks ago. Originally treated with garden sulfur but that seems to have done little to stop the spread. Got it around a month ago and have never watered it. (It looks wet on some parts as I washed off the sulfur to take pics. Spots are not soft ...

Fertilizing Inorganic Mix for Seedlings
Hey all, I've recently started a 100% mineral mix and have been searching the forums regarding fertilizing seedlings in these mixes. I was wondering, when one does fertilize seedlings in these inorganic mixes, is there a recommended fertilizer, or can I just use anything befitting a cactus? Also cur...

Re: Orange spots on Lophophora Seedlings
So for anyone else who stumbles upon this problem, I've been told this is either a fungal infection (rust was a popular diagnosis) or just general rot.
I treated with H2O2 for a few days (1 tbs per cup) and although I still lost quite a few, the orange has either dried up or stopped growing.
