Re: What dictates the flowersize?

It’s a number of factors that affect flower size namely genetics. But nutrients and water are important to reach potential. P from what I remember is most important for flower development but n and k are needed for the plant to function as a whole so are also needed. Flowers are a large expenditure ...

Re: Hardgrown or not- how do you prefer your cacti/succulents?

erstands what you mean by ‘arteficial look’ though. I have to say I am torn here.. and for me it depends a bit on what species we are talking about. I have for instance never seen an Ariocarpus or a Lophophora IRL but I have seen quite a few pics. I have to admit that the deflated, ‘colourless’ bur...

Re: Hardgrown or not- how do you prefer your cacti/succulents?

Hardgrown to me are plants that can handle full sun, no water for months, and very little nutrients added since most can get it from air or rocks/soil. I consider my cacti hardgrown even though I water then every week. They are in 80-100% mineral mix and very little to no additional fertilizer. I do...

Re: Try this rarely used grafting technique

So I posted an update on a few lophophora I used this technique on... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TC3eDpCGBg at 4 minute mark is the best example of the expected results using impale/side grafts on seedlings. If you have excess taproot seedlings perfecting this technique is a great idea. Using ...

I'd assume its part of the genetics... if you left it laying down it would likely pup near base... just assuming

Re: Mammillaria cactus grafted onto a flowering pepper plant.

This makes absolutely no sense. I don't even think pepper plants are in the caryophyllales order. Very strange chimera you have there. Yea pretty weird and it seems that the pepper doesn't have issues accepting cacti. I did another graft using lophpohora and it seems to have taken. I'm unsure if th...

Re: Bottom water top water your cacti question?

I always top water to remove any salts and oxygenate the roots… Bottom watering doesn’t reduce rot just increases efficiency of mass watering via capillary wicking. Very useful in commercial growing and hazano who is a great grower on here uses it with his seedlings… can’t remember if he also uses i...

Re: Graft chimeras and Pereskiopsis without glochids

Very cool man I'm sure you could commercialize them as most growers hate the spines... I never minded them never had an issue as they just seem to rub off my finger as easily as they stick. I have a few idea on forcing chimeras without doing hundreds of grafts which is how they normally arrive. Obvi...
