Older generations of "grow lights" consisted mainly of red and blue diodes producing unnatural-looking pink to violet light. Modern LED grow lights produce much more balanced spectrum.

In my experience Sempervivums are almost impossible to kill, so either approach will work. Please note that I've never kept any of the "fancy" cultivars, just the "regular" species. Cultivars might be a bit more sensitive.

Seedlings look perfectly normal in my opinion. U. pectinifera is a slow growing species.

Yes, but they are two parts of the same areole, one part on the tip and other part at the base of the tubercle.

Bifurcation in this case means that the areoles are split between the tip of the tubercle (from where spines usually grow) and the space between tubercles (from where flowers, and sometimes offsets, appear).
