Re: chamaecereus luisramirezii repot

It's growing when the light is not good enough, which is why it has those skinny tips. Also, it needs a winter rest if you want it to bloom. See: http://www.cactus-art.biz/note-book/Dictionary/Dictionary_W/dictionary_winter_rest.htm If you can't provide the cool temperatures recommended you should ...

Re: chamaecereus luisramirezii repot

The cactus is big enough that it should fill that pot with roots before long. Be extra careful with watering for the first year or two - make sure it's really thirsty before you water it. I have been watering it every 20 days give or take a day. It has been sending out a lot of roots in search of s...

Re: chamaecereus luisramirezii repot

Size of the pot will not present any problems for the plant. Your C. luisramirezii could use more light, though. Best regards, Nino Usually that spot is very sunny, it's a south facing window but I have a small plant LED light from a 2 gallon aquarium that I'm going to put above it when I get the h...

chamaecereus luisramirezii repot

My chamaecereus luisramirezii was starting to send out roots on a few of the arms and it's in a 2 inch pot. I wanted to put it in a pot where it could take root. I didn't have a 3 inch pot so I put it in a 5 inch hanging pot that's 2.5 inches deep. The soil that I used is about 80% grit and my succu...

anttisepp wrote: Tue Oct 31, 2023 5:21 pm I say: YES! More, I care each new plant with insecticide and put it in carantine for a month.
Having some hundreds of pots it's much easier to prevent than care invasion of all collection.
Thanks for the help. I will definitely do some repotting because I have several that need it.

On clearance succulents

This is my first year growing succulents but I'm a master gardener outside and I know what to do with plants that are in bad shape on the clearance rack. However I'm not sure what to do with succulents from the clearance rack. I have read several articles that say don't do anything with the new plan...

Re: Info on this cactus Chamaecereus luisramirezii

As shown above it is usually grown as a pendant plant in a hanging basket, unlike the usual C. silvestrii that grows OK in a pot on the stageing. As to its discovery see the following link that will usually translate using Google Translator or similar. http://www.incact.cz/index.php/82-chamaecereus...

Re: Info on this cactus Chamaecereus luisramirezii

It has no common name but I think "circus peanut" would be a good name.

Re: Info on this cactus Chamaecereus luisramirezii

Seems these can be grown from seed, according to this thread: https://forum.bcss.org.uk/viewtopic.php?t=168477&start=10 Apparently it's more elongated than the common Peanut Cactus, as well as shorter spined - otherwise very similar. Easy to grow, good choice for a first cactus - many rare spec...

Re: Info on this cactus Chamaecereus luisramirezii

I believe that I have this cactus" Chamaecereus luisramirezii" but I can't find very much information about it. Any knowledge would be great. CameraZOOM-20231026152732874_compress58.jpg I won't ask you what you had to "shell out" for this new 'Peanut' cactus discovery, but I bet...
