Re: Black Trapezoid Shaped Bad Guy in seed pots

Thanks for the replies! On legs, it has 8, I believe. 3 on each side, and under the always moving antenna, another 2 very small legs. Under different magnification, it appears the legs and body have a little bit of hair on them. They are extremely tiny; so pics would not be possible. They definitely...

Black Trapezoid Shaped Bad Guy in seed pots

Howdy- When reviewing my seed pots under low power microscope magnification; I am seeing some yucky black upside down trapezoid shaped insects with golden or reddish color antennas. Any idea who these critters are? If not; anyone have a good resource for greenhouse insect issues? In the recent past,...

Carnegiea (Saguaro) under red lights

Howdy- Spending a lot of time reading info on seed germination; I came across an old post with an obscure note that Carnegiea responds to red light for better germination. I found an old doc on JStor that may have info, but I didnt feel like signing up for it - not sure if I would qualify for an acc...

Re: Updated seed lists

Mesa Garden has been updated: http://www.mesagarden.com Hi Aiko- Thanks for always watching out for new lists. When I look at Mesa, it still has their December 20th note indicating they are in the process of updating. Are you seeing something different? If so, maybe I need to clear my internet cach...

Re: Updated seed lists

Thanks for the update. Assuming Paypal is an accepted payment method; one can only receive a refund up to 180 days after the initial transaction (same for most credit cards, I believe). A lot can happen in a year..... I would not risk it. Glad you received your package....Christmas after all!

Re: Updated seed lists

I placed an order at Gerardo's at least 6+ months ago, and it finally arrived in Texas today. I had totally written off the order as a learning experience, but I just needed to wait! I just went to their website and every page shows a big question mark. I wonder what that means? What payment method...

Selenicereus megalanthus

Hello- I have some S. megalanthus seed that i would like to germinate. After removing seeds from the fruit, I soaked in hydrogen peroxide for a while. Then, sowed on top of growing media, couple different mixes, and used the usual baggy method. Nothing. I tried again after some time. Still no germin...

Re: Let's grow some Melocactus!

And speaking of Ralph Martin's field numbers. When looking at my M. curvispinus, neryi, and peruvianus; they all look the same to me. And, maybe they are in my collection. But who? M. c = 10-16 ribs, acute, sometimes tuberculate. Fruits 16 - 60 mm. Flowers exserted more than 10 mm above cephalia, op...
