Here's another suspicious auction listing: 25-Texas-cactus-probably-Echinocereus-reichenbachii You can already see holes in the ground where others once lived! The descriptions suggest that they are in the sellers garden "We have lots of them that I transplanted from West Texas." Of cours...

Number two is definitely an opuntia. No idea what species though.
I not sure what has caused the scaring, possibly some sort of insect damage?

Hi Eduart,
There still seems to be some problem with the standard download. Most/all of the images either don't show correctly or look washed out. The print download looks just fine however.

Re: Nursery going down hill!
It's a sad sight to see. I recently stopped at a small mom and pop roadside nursery when I was out of town for work. Their focus was mostly flowers and vegetable starts, but their sign mentioned cacti as well. When I asked they took me out back where their cacti green house was. They had some pretty...

Looks great! I like your fence as well. Your frame looks sturdy enough to support salvaged windows as a possible cheaper alternative to polycarb.

Re: What is this suspicious stuff?
Looks like a fungus. Probably won't hurt the cactus, but suggests the soil is retaining water too long which brings on the risk of rot.

Re: The Making of Tuna Jelly - Photos
I just like the idea that most people think of the fish when you mention tuna, and the look of shock and horror they make when you replace "jelly" with "tuna" in contexts where the fish would be disgusting. But I'm sure the tuna jelly is delicious. I have never had it but I have ...

Re: discovered major prob
The white stuff in the second pic looks kinda like mealies. Is it soft and kind of sticky to the touch? and or turn orange when you smush it between your fingers?
I'm not sure what is going on in the first pic. cactushobbyman might be right about the rot.

fanaticactus - I feel your pain. I have been struggling with those m)!*#$@&#$*%s on quite a few plants in my collection. Thus far I have managed to keep them under control (not eradicate :( ) with isopropyl alcohol. So far only my shamrocks have shown a sensitivity to the alcohol. I like the alc...

I was browsing a notorious auction site today and came across someone selling pads recovered from this brutal attack. I'm not sure who is selling them, but they are there for anyone who might be interested. The price ain't too bad either.
