Re: About the requests for ID, again. We need to consider moderating
The list/pics of COMMON cactus is fantastic and could possibly limit some COMMON cactus ID request. Critical observation of the COMMON cactus list (apologies in advance) - Display the pics before the list instead of the list before the pics. Re: Cylindropuntia bigelovii
7george, you could be right about the spines. I notice the spines remove easily and have a jacket covering them. Losing them definitely could leave a barnacle looking spot. Also, as you mentioned they could be new spines coming in. Thanks

If I noticed something moving I may have had a chance, but none of this is currently moving at a rate the eye can detect. I do have more than one and I am willing ...

Cylindropuntia bigelovii
I am unsure if I am looking at an issue that needs attention or if I am looking at normal California high desert weathering. First pic is the top of the cactus. First I thought scale, but it does not pic off like scale. I’m leaning toward natural weathering/desert debris. Without having seen this be...

Re: Your best photo
Not a best photo, just a photo. This one fell off mom. Potted it up and its been living on a Texas 8b arbored patio ever since. This is its second winter and “fingers crossed” this will be its second full summer. There was a good sized pup on top for a good year but it got knocked off early this win...

Re: Transplant shock? Advice needed please!
It was doing good in the rich soil it was given to in many months ago. Upon repotting into a mainly inorganic gritty mix 7 weeks ago things have gone south. Seems like a soil issue. The grtty mix being checked with a skewer is still moist after 2 weeks does not sound good. I think you are on the rig...
