Re: Grafting Progress
It should be koehresii as it was planted at the same time as the small one that attempted to flower last month. There has already been noticeable growth since the graft was done, which was just a few weeks ago.

Re: Grafting Progress
So a little update, I have a few new grafts in the works. The kikko Loph that I was starting to root got stuck onto a Trichocereus pachanoi stock just to see if I could get some more growth out of it because I want to see what it'll look like mature. I also regrafted (for the third or fourth time no...

Orbea variegata - is this normal?
I am germinating these O. variegata seeds for the first time and they are very lanky. Many are also stuck in their seed shell. Is the shape normal? Do I need to remove the shell from those that are stuck? When this happens with my peppers I typically remove the shell. Also how long should this speci...

Re: Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus
I had good success with germination of A. kotschoubeyanus just in the past two weeks with the baggie method. Daytime temps were kept around 25-35C with night temps of about 18C. 12 hour days under a 150W tube CFL (in a propagator tank for seedlings). I had germination in about three days after the s...

Re: Etiolation?
Thanks for your quick and detailed response! I suppose all I can do is move them to a brighter but not AS bright area as direct sunlight. I can probably find a good spot against the side of the house similar to yours. Hopefully the small narrow bit won't make the plant too strange looking as it matu...

Etiolation?
I have this Opuntia subulata f. monstrose outdoors under 30% shade cloth but I'm not sure if it is getting enough light. The Opuntia looks to be narrowing on some branches, but I can't tell if this is from low light or it getting ready to flower because it looks as if buds are forming on some branch...

Re: What are these seedlings doing?
Sorry I misunderstood, they were sprayed with GA3 not watered. However not all of the weird looking seedlings received the treatment.
Here's the confused/stressed koehresii trying to flower:

Good, now you should take them all out of those pots and get rid of that soil

Re: What are these seedlings doing?
As far as I know it's on the higher end of standard for treatment of other plants. It could definitely be the cause of strange growth. However much of the weird lumpy growth I saw as the plants were 'newborns' evened out as the months passed and they each started to look normal.
