Re: Notice of death of CactusJordi 1/1/18

That IS a great pic of him, James! Thanks for sharing! The 1st visit to his greenhouse (sauna), he wore a shirt~ but unbuttoned! We said he was so lucky to do that. We women could not! So after that, he suffered with us by wearing a shirt whenever we visited. :)

Any chance you’re on Facebook, James?

Re: Grapto?

I don’t think it was on the market 9 years ago, but I am in agreement (other than tweak on the intergeneric name), them both being xGraptosedum ‘California Sunset’.

Re: Notice of death of CactusJordi 1/1/18

I have uploaded a memorial album, tribute to Jürgen Menzel (CactusJordi here) to Flickr. It is a public album. Not sure if you need to be a Flickr member in order to view. If not & you're a Facebook member, I have a public album there (under Rosemarie Armstrong). I'm hoping this link takes you t...

Re: Notice of death of CactusJordi 1/1/18

Craig/Denise, I echo your sentiments. I visited his greenhouse every year, although I came to calling it a “sauna”. I took hundreds of pix every time! I have some of his plants to treasure & remember him by. Still in shock he is gone. :( The upcoming SDCSS show in Feb will not be the same withou...

Re: Notice of death of CactusJordi 1/1/18

Yes, I’ve lost my friend of 20 yrs. The many online forums will be sad about the loss of this amazing man. I know he worked at educating others about cactus & tried to fill the files with examples, using his plants.

Notice of death of CactusJordi 1/1/18

To those of you who knew him-a large contributor to the cactus files here, just wanted to let you know Jürgen Menzel lost his (short) battle with Leukemia. Please tell those you know who knew him. Thanks.

Re: Help with ID please

1. Aloe sp.
2. Aloe 'Pepe'
3. Aloe juvenna
4. crested (fasciated) something -need a better look
5. most likely xGraptosedum 'Ghosty' (if so, will have yellow flowers)
6. could be Echeveria 'Perle von Nurnberg' (need to see after it grows in better conditions)

Re: Could use some ID help on the following plants

Congrats on your nuptials! Besides the names you have already, look up these guys & match to your cuttings: Crassula ovata 'Hummel's Sunset' Crassula 'Campfire' (maybe) Crassula tetragona (but doesn't look dark enough green) Carpobrotus (maybe edulis) Graptosedum 'Ghosty' Aeonium haworthii Cotyl...

Re: Could use some ID help on the following plants

Yes, a form of Haworthia venosa ssp. tessellata (there are several) Gasteria (could be 'Little Warty', as suggested). Some Gasteria stay distichous (v-shaped), others make a rosette as they mature (swirl around) Looks like Sedum adolphi Seems to be an xGraptosedum Others are too small to ID. Wait ti...

Re: Succulent id

If it is fuzzy, I'll say Echeveria pulvinata. Bright, indirect light & water when dry.

Re: Andalucian specimen ... incognito #4

Check into Euphorbia enopla & E. ferox. Not sure if they are variable on the rib count.
