While it is normal for it to be sprawling. Yours are in need of more light. I have one that is completely erect even though it is about 15 inches tall. It should be thicker than the pictures show. I promise that with more light the new growth will be different.

Well they are simply stunning! I think I may need to add a few to my collection. Although I have just acquired a fair number of plants so I may hold off on purchasing them in the next couple months. You can get some for $1.50 per unrooted cuttings from c&d plants. The cuttings I got from them grew quite fast. They were also fairly large cuttings unlike some on eBay. To show how fast they grow. Last year I got 4 cuttings and at this point I have like 15 plants. With a few more grafts on pere...

Very interesting! I never thought of gel capsules for pollen storage. I also really like the looks of that cultivar! So how long does pollen remain viable in the fridge?

Ok, I will tell you it won't die. But in all seriousness it will probably be OK, what has happened is sunburn. Yes cacti can get sunburn. They are especially vulnerable after overwintering in a dark place and then a sudden transition into the sunlight. I would recommend immediately moving it into a ...

Re: my collection so far....
That would be a pretty cool cross. I'm kind of hoping one of my astros open at the same time as my digiostigma/astrophytum caput medusae for the same purpose of course. I had some seedlings that were getting decent size, but I went on a trip and left them in the bag and by the time I got back they h...
