Was wondering if I could get a positive ID on this little echinocereus? I'm thinking that maybe it is echinocereus caespitosus var. caespitosus? Its native range falls within the Austin area, where I located it. Thanks in advance.

I also live in the Hill Country of Texas, and have those cacti in my garden. I believe the first photo is echinocereus reichenbachii and the other is echinocereus enneacanthus (a magenta colored bloom). Yes, those cacti are common in southwest Texas. Help With Identifying Echinocereus
This little "hedgehog" type cactus grows in this area (west of Austin, Texas) in rocky outcroppings. They seldom get over 5 or 6 inches tall and a couple of inches in diameter. Is this the dasyacanthus? Are both photo's of the same variety? Thanks in advance, Ed http://img184.imageshack.us...
