Need Echinocereus ID

Was wondering if I could get a positive ID on this little echinocereus? I'm thinking that maybe it is echinocereus caespitosus var. caespitosus? Its native range falls within the Austin area, where I located it. Thanks in advance.

Need ID Help

I came across this cactus today while hiking west of Austin, Texas. Can someone please identify it for me? It was about the size of a large grapefruit. Thanks in advance.

I would like to see a photo of the echinocereus in bloom. That would make id much easier.

I also live in the Hill Country of Texas, and have those cacti in my garden. I believe the first photo is echinocereus reichenbachii and the other is echinocereus enneacanthus (a magenta colored bloom). Yes, those cacti are common in southwest Texas. I've attached a photo of enneacanthus that I now ...

I agree that it is acanthocarpa (Buckhorn Cholla). The fruits and plant look just like the one that I have.

Help With Identifying Echinocereus

This little "hedgehog" type cactus grows in this area (west of Austin, Texas) in rocky outcroppings. They seldom get over 5 or 6 inches tall and a couple of inches in diameter. Is this the dasyacanthus? Are both photo's of the same variety? Thanks in advance, Ed http://img184.imageshack.us...

I got an email from Bill Williams and he stated that he believes the cactus is Opuntia engelmannii var. alta

I'd like to find a photo on the web somewhere to compare it with mine.

The plant was completely thornless and with the coloration I'm wondering if it could be opuntia violacea v. santa-rita ?

Can Someone Please Provide the Name?

This is my first attempt at posting a photo. I hope I do it correctly. I was at a friend's home today and obtained this cactus pad. I love the maroon coloration. Is the coloration a characteristic of the variety? This cactus is thornless. It will make a nice addition to my cactus garden. I am a &quo...
