I was on an extended vacation and came home to my nearly dead spiral cactus. I realize it is probably too far gone but curious what might have happened.

Can someone tell me the name of this cactus? If there a good site that lists cactus pictures to determine what a cactus is?

Do you think this simply corking?

Had this cactus for awhile but don't know what the name is. It typically has one small flower a year but these large flowers have appeared for the first time and there are so many. Many more that are growing out. Does this mean anything?
