What is going on with these Astrophytum cultivar seedlings?
Anyone know what's happening with these Astrophytum cultivar seedlings? Haven't grown past juvenile stage. Sown end of July. Tips showing orange/brown color. For comparison, I included pics of other seedlings from same seed batch down at same time. B7puc61.jpg Oi63VEk.jpg HfVpg2m.jpg ZLioL38.jpg psT...

Re: How many seeds do you put in a 2in pot?
Yes, I should have mentioned I hope to keep them there for a year. I have a wide variety of seeds, but many are Ariocarpus, Astrophytum, Turbinicarpus.

How many seeds do you put in a 2in pot?
I'm using the baggie method. I harvested seeds from my plants and I have dozens from certain plants.
What's a good range to put in each pot?
Thanks.

Re: Where can I buy cacti/succulent seeds in California?
I'm in Southern California. Most of the growers I know harvest from their own plants or order online. I don't know of any shops here in LA that sell seed. If any do, Desert Creations would be the one nursery I would ask.

Okay if bare root plants get rained on?
I bought some plants that came bare root and I haven't had a chance to pot them yet. It was in the high 80s here last week, but we've had humidity in the 80%+ with a morning marine layer.
We are getting rain Tuesday and Wednesday. Do I need to bring them inside or will the rain hurt them?

Do I need to regraft this Cintia knizei "rubra"?
Original stock didn't survive shipping and potting...will it grow on its own roots or do I need to regraft? If grafting, would you recommend Harrisia justbertii or Myrtillocactus? Thanks.

Re: Best chance for success rooting this degrafted Astrophytum?
I'm in Los Angeles, so it is warm (up to 80 this week), but that won't sustain. Although I could keep it inside where it will be warmer though the night and not get down to the low 50s. Still, not as warm as I'd prefer for rooting.

Best chance for success rooting this degrafted Astrophytum?
The Pereskiopsis stock dried out in transit, so I'm going to try rooting. I tried to save some of the vascular column of the Pereskiopsis like I saw in an article on forums, but it looks like that dried out overnight. Does this have a better chance of rooting with the stub of the Pereskiopsis on the...

Re: Thoughts on what is happening to this Echinocactus grusonii monstrose?
Yeah. It started turning yellow and soft. I wasn't sure what was happening since I usually see rot start in the stock and work it's way up. Someone told me this clone can be very temperamental, so I decided to perform emergency surgery. We'll see what happens as the new stock wasn't growing as activ...

Re: Grafted Ariocarpus cultivation question
Okay, that's what I always assumed, but it's good to know for sure.
I'm in Los Angeles, so it should not be much of a problem for either of these two species, but it's better to know than guess.
Thanks again.

Turning yellow and deflating. Stock is still firm/healthy. 4th pic is from 1/28 for reference.

Re: Grafted Ariocarpus cultivation question
Does this hold true for hardiness? The whole plant is as hardy as the stock?
