Re: Tephrocactus articulatus

I have the same one and have always called it diadematus...glochids and the occasional real spine at the top of the segment.

Re: Can you suggest me the genus?

Definitely an Aloe hybrid, but not 'Christmas Carol', which doesn't have the abundance of white bumpies that yours does. Here's an old picture of mine, covered in dirt and spiderwebs:

Re: is this Echinopsis Flying Saucer?

Hm..I thought this was a pretty common plant? I guess not. I have some fruit developing from this year's flowers that I can get some seed from...no guarantees of what will come up! The only other plant I had in bloom that day was 'Fangri La'.

Re: is this Echinopsis Flying Saucer?

Flying Saucer has HUGE flowers, my plant produced 9-inch flowers last year (wide-angle lens makes them look smaller in the below pic). They are bright pink with a very pronounced yellow center and greenish throat. Also note that your flower has more petals without the distinct midrib keel. http://i7...

Re: is this Echinopsis Flying Saucer?

I don't think so...it has too many rows of petals, not quite the right color, and the stem doesn't look right. It is beautiful, whatever it is!

Re: garden center orphan

Looks like that mamm has two areoles on some of the tubercles...is that normal? Seems odd.

Re: Is this a succulent?

Out of curiousity, what signs tell you that? I'd like to know how to tell them apart.

Re: Is this a succulent?

Yes, it is a mesemb (iceplant), looks like maybe a delosperma or drosanthemum.

Re: Help with identification

At first glance it looks like a small-spined form of Agave lophantha...this species has flower stalks that tend to lean way over once they get tall, so that should help confirm or deny that ID!

Re: Kelly Griffin Aloe Hybrids

'Sunset' is a large-ish and solitary-ish plant, but all the others I've seen or grown are small aggressive clumpers. 'Christmas Carol' is a madman, forming both pups and bulbils for me.
