Re: Contest 82 : Dicussion and related Pictures

Quite an interesting story how this species of opuntia was found , it shows perfectly the enormous capability of certain cacti to adapt to a broad variety of dry places, thanks for posting MJPapay!

Re: Contest 82 : Dicussion and related Pictures

Two beautiful photo entries and an interesting discussion about epiphytic growth, thanks for the input everybody. In my opinion we could also widen this month topic to epiphytic cacti of all kinds. Even if their stems dont grow leaflike -after all some species of Ripsalis have more roundish and not ...

Re: Contest 82 : Dicussion and related Pictures

Hello people, I´d think aloe species would be a little far off in this topic since they are not cacti, but a palm tree with a nice epiphytic Mammillaria could be a valid entry (especially if it such a nice shot from Habitate as in DaveW´s link :D ). We thought it was a nice topic for people growing ...

Nice selection of entries! Pterocactus valentinii is a species that flowers late in the summer too (as does Tephrocactus oligoacanthus)

Nice selection so far!
Opuntia should be good ones for a graphically apealing subject having those shaped outlines they have .

Re: Contest 81 : Dicussion and related Pictures

Hello Ian, no this is birds sand - it works quite well for rooting cuttings. These tephrocactus weberi cuttings decided to flower anyway in spite of having been broken off the main stem recently... Hello Alber Khan and Cephalophone, this contest is for all kinds of opuntia- I guess it would even be ...

Re: Contest 80: Voting Page

Congradulations on the magnificent bunch of flowers in one pot, and of corse on the great Photo you took of it, Gene.
It´s amazing to see what can happen to a single small cutting under proper care in only a few years/decades... =D>
