Monilaria in the fridge?

Post by mmcavall »

My Monilaria moniliformis seedlings are slowly dying, after a long hot summer. As it get a little colder here (not really cold) I started to water them a little bit more. But I dont have cold nights here so I'm wondering if I can put one of the seedlings' pot in the fridge during night. I know I can't do this forever, but I would like to see what happens and compare to the other seedlings.

My fridge temperature is about +3ºC. Can I put the plant to sleep inside it with no worries? Or is this too cold? Do the plant need a gradual decrease of temperature? Or can I move it from 20ºC directly to 3ºC ? Or should I just forget this idea?

Thanks!

Anything above 0C should be fine. They can even take a light frost.

I think using a fridge at night might be a good solution if you don't have cold nights. Better to use the fridge than to keep the plants in warm weather on the long run.
