The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread
Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread
I love all Haworthias (I have a few of them) but I find the variegated ones downright stunning. Leo25, do you mind me asking where you have those gorgeous Haworthias from?

Some of the newer species
Haworthia bobii Hope to get seeds going next year
H. truteriorum
A real slow grower
H. hammeri
The left one looks like it might have some hybrid blood
I got them from Steven Hammer, so I get what I get.

Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread
I usually get a couple variegated seedlings out of large batches of truncata and maughanii, but they are so sensitive or what can be called anemic, that they usually die off at around 3 months.
Maybe some day I can improve my seed raising skills so I can keep them alive longer.

Now my Haworthia pumila "Tears of Angels" is growing .
I love this hybrid, I got it from a South African friend.

My Haworthias... I was happy and contented that all were correctly labelled, but know I'm starting to doubt even my name...

Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread
Hi folks,
your Haworthias are GORGEOUS. Incredible. Such small plants, but so beautiful. Especially those with the windows are fascinating to me.
Please help me with my collection. I am not sure about names, and in one case not sure about what to do.
Names: The following two are of different stock, the first one from Barcelone, the second from Zurich. The first can't get enough sun, the second is more shy. The first definitely has windows, but not the second. Both look quite different to me, but both are said to be Haw. cooperi. Can that be true...?
These Haw.s cymbiformis don't look too good. They share their pot with the Haw. fasciata and Haw. attenuata clariperla, see following picture. I am thinking of taking the H.cymbi.s out of that pot and separate them. What do you propose?
Left: Haw. fasciata and right: Haw. attenuata clariperla -- hope the names are right?
This Haworthia reinwardtii is from Harry:
This one has a new name thanks to you, i.e. Haw. angustifolia angustifolia.
Thanks for your help.

Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread
Hi, muskariagr,
your cymbiformis & reinwardtii look good to me.
But your rugosa reminds me of my fasciata (where I am not perfectly sure), while your fasciata looks definitely different from mine.
Hope some Haworthia-expert helps us to sort things out!

Re: The Cactiguide Haworthia Thread
Great photos and plants everyone. My H. cooperi truncata kind of fell out of its pot and is the size of a baseball. Not growing in soil at all for about a year - how's that for the ultimate non-organic mix.
I also use mostly inorganic mix - I would rather loose something to drying out than rot in our cold wet winters...
