My want list is almost endless and increases every time I see a show or neat presentation but the one thing I have lusted for over the years is the strange Brazilian, Stephanocereus luetzelburgii. It has been in a lot of other genera over the years - Pilosocereus, Coleocephalocereus, and others. Found in in a few seed/plant lists here and there but never have managed to receive an order.

Any hints greatly appreciated !!

Cheers ... GeneS

Gene,
3 names come to mind with that plant:
Pierre Braun (pbraunger@aol.com)
Eddie Esteves (http://www.cactos.com.br)
Marlon Machado

i only have contact info for Pierre or Eddie from a 2003 Kaktusy journal (shown above) but I'm sure a google search or some other journals will turn up a current email/website.

Marlon has a website: http://www.brcactaceae.org/e_index.html

nice list! Looks like Escobaria grata was only described in 2001. (Escobaria grata Kaplan M., Kunte L., Šnicer J. spec. nova, Kaktusy, 37 : 34-37, 2001)

Apparently it is now considered a subsp. of hesteri.

well of course I don't need to have them all next year (well... maybe I DO,hehe)
these will just be plants I'm on the lookout for and this will also be a list to decide which seeds to grow next year. I'm aiming for the most challenging ones, learning by trial and error is THE way to go.
and rebutia, loads of them!

peter, thanks for the header, I'll put it in my notes, maybe it'll make that one easier to find!
would you perhaps also know something about sulcorebutia gerosenilis?

Iann,
I can see why you want that plant its cool.

Well I finally picked up my O. engelmannii var linguformis (Cow's Tongue PP). Someone had a junk one that they wanted to get rid of and so I got some pads off of it.

Now I am thinking I want another PP I saw at desert botanical garden. I am pretty sure it was from TX and was called the Black Spined PP since it had dark spines... they looked COOL
(edit) I looked up that black spined PP and it is called O. macrocentra
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

iann wrote:I was going to suggest that L. williamsii seed is fairly easy to obtain even though the plant is illegal in the US, and not hard to grow. However it seems like it may be a little too hard to grow

Like others, there isn't anything I'm desperately searching for. That's one of the benefits of growing from seed even if I don't have large specimens of everything.

New Lithops forms will always be welcome as I come across them, but I have every species and most subspecies and varieties. I'll pick up or grow from seed some more own-root Pediocactus, likely to be a perpetual job since they are not easy. I do fancy Echinocereus viridiflorus var canus and Austrocylindripuntia malyanus on its own roots, I'm sure I'll get both sooner or later even if I have to grow them myself.

Probably the single plant I would most be looking for is not a Lithops, not even a cactus or mesemb, but Anacampseros comptonii. Perhaps because I was sent seed that turned out to be something else, I really want this now but plants are almost never for sale and even seed is very rare. Take a look:

I've seen one in the flesh but they're supposed to be quite tricky.
Hello Ian
Did you come across the Atomic Plant Nursery (They are located near a nuclear reactor near Munich)?
They have quite a few anacampseros but not your sought after one.

Almost everything I want, I have found in time. The cactus I would love to get that I cannot find is Brachycereus nesioticus from the Galapagos Islands.
I've killed plants.

A 10 metre large Suguaro Cactus in my back yard :D

I know some of you are lucky enough to be surrounded buy them, but we really just don't have the climate here in Melbourne. 3 months of heat just isn't enough.

A 10 metre large T. Pasacana would be nice, but I don't think i'd live to be 110
So I bought another cactus today.... don't tell the missus!!
