Thanks for this post, Ralf, because I have most of the species shown & they are at exactly the same stages, looking almost exactly as yours! :D Next 10 days are supposed to be in the 22 - 25C range & they should get happier! 8)

Very cool rock garden you have there, Ralf. At first glance, I thought those were habitat pictures. Your plants look fantastic in that setting.

Thanks so much folks!
Today have had Echinocereus viridiflorus its first open 2 flowers. It was very surprisingly because there was freeze up to 26F for the last two nights.
I hope to have soon time to take some pictures.

Your outdoor bed is wonderful Ralf.

I am really surprised that you have had temps that cold this late in May! We are supposed to have as low as 36F tomorrow night, but to have 26F would be terrible!

Thanks Daiv.
It isn't unusual that we get such low temps in May.
However the buds at Echinocereus viridiflorus was damaged at this temps and it didn't flowers. That's a pity.
On the other hand all other buds going to flower soon.

Well, it was really cold and rainy during the past couple weeks.
However if we haven't any clouds so the plants do their usual things.

So beautiful! It seems like there are only subtle differences between Echinocereus reichenbachii and oklahomensis.

A newer name of Echinocereus oklahomensis is Echinocereus reichenbachii ssp. baileyi.
That also makes more sense to me and shows better the relations to reichenbachii.

I do like the name oklahomensis. It instantly suggests to me a geograhic location of eastern Texas and, of course its neighbor, Oklahoma. However, I'm not sure if that is correct.

**oops. I meant northern Texas. **

Ralf,
I really enjoy your outdoor bed. Well the pictures you share at least. I looks so neat with all the rock.

Thanks, daiv!
Well it was a long way and hard work. Anyway it's almost simple and easy to make.
I wonder why you don't have some similar in Minnesota. You should have nearly the same growth conditions like me.

Ralf,
I really do need to make an outdoor bed like yours. The plants you see in my outdoor post are either at my friend Ron's or in my "field" planting. I do like the field planting too because it is wild and I've had cactus growing there for around 20 years!
