echinocereus triglochidiatus inermis help

Post by CHADDYBIGGUMS »

Hi, I could use some help/ideas on how to remove some of these pups so I can root them. I tried just pulling one off, and it ripped the entire core out of the center. if anyone has any experience with this cactus or something similar, what is the best way to remove the offsets in one piece and also what is the best way to get said pups to root. any and all help is appreciated!!

Use a knife or cutter to avoid ripping the core out.
Rooting the cutting should be easy, let the wound callous (1-2 weeks), and then pot it. No direct sunlight until it grows new roots (you'll notice new growth on the plant).

That clump is perfect the way it is, this is the natural look of the plant. The main stem will be ugly after chopping out of the offsets. If you are determined of doing this better wait for pups to grow bigger and elongate first.
If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.

I agree, very difficult to cut them off at this stage. It would work best if you unpot the plant so you can get at the bottom of the offsets from below.

Why would you want to root the offsets? It will only take up more space, space you later maybe regret not to be able to spend on other plants. Shortage of space, it will happen to all of us!
