Thimble cactus pups

Post by Amym »

I’m pretty sure, but not 100%, that this is a thimble cactus

When I got it there were loose pups so I removed all of them except two ( the smallest ones in the planter)

Should the other two be removed as well? And do you think they are ready to be planted or can they lay on the soil for a while?

Thanks!

Why remove them? Do you want loads of little plants or a small number of nice clustered plants?

They removed offsets can be stood upright and left alone on the surface of the soil. They are already starting to put out roots, and should establish themselves easily.

If you are gonna remove loose pups you might as well remove every pup they make because it's gonna be lose.

The lady I purchased it from made it seem like the cactus fell apart in transit to her so I was told to remove them.
Thanks for clearing that up for me!
I’ll return to the pot

The pups are very fragile and will break on the slightest touch or in the rain
