I've spotted something on my W. johnsonii. Does anyone have a clue?
Damage, disease or bugs?

Scale bugs by the look of it.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.

Never seen 'scale bugs' in my life, but that name seems to fit what I see! It's to thick for being sunburn and they do look like scales...adetheproducer wrote:Scale bugs by the look of it.

Don't forget that CactiGuide has a page dedicated to pests and diseases -- see here:Gypscoprotheres wrote:Never seen 'scale bugs' in my life, but that name seems to fit what I see! It's to thick for being sunburn and they do look like scales...

Difficult to tell for sure, but I agree with ATP -- armored scale. In the same pest group with mealies, so the best way to put down scale infestations is with a soil soak using one of the neonicotinoids such as Imidacloprid. You have plenty of growing season left, so unless you can't get Imidacoprid or something similar anymore (I have no idea what the EU laws are on that these days), go for the systemic approach instead of messing with sprays.
If you just want photos without all the blather, please visit my Flickr gallery.

Scale should be fairly easy to scrape off. Don't try too hard though, because it might be actual scarring of the skin caused by something else. Scale are pretty resistant to sprays, at least to anything that won't damage the plant, so a systemic approach works best.

Pick them off the will come of then use some bayer spray most garden centre/supermarkets will have it. It worked well with a tree in my garden. No re-infestation.

Thanks for the advises. I'll try them tomorrow.
