Cutting out damage and clonining

This fat Echin. from Lincoln Co. NM had one stem sun-damaged four years ago. I cut it out, dried it, and planted it last summer. Now four months later, it is making a recovery. Note: The winter has skipped Sparks NV. Also at the bottom of this post is a E. whipplei I dug up because it was overgrown. The root measured 26 inches..
