I'm not sure what is happening...

Post by aurorap »

This lobivia arachnacantha I have seems to be turning green. I'm new to caring for cacti and this seems a bit odd. I currently keep this guy inside of a little greenhouse I bought from Ikea. Any information about it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Aurora

It is not getting enough light. I suggest growing it outside if you are not already doing so.

I agree with tumamoc it is suffering from etoliation. It's where the plants do not receive adequate light and consequently stretch out in an attempt to find some. I would suggest stronger light as tumamoc suggested, however be careful to give it a gradual transition into more light/sun. Because the green growth is weak and will sunburn easily.

Window screen, wire or cloth mesh, burlap, cheesecloth, or something like that placed over the plant will aid the transition by letting through the necessary sunlight while preventing sunburn.
