What happened to this guy?

Any ideas? It looks like something got at it. Bought it in February and its been inside and water free since then. Any danger to the other cacti that it was previously planted with?

Doubt it. It's been inside, on a table with 7 other cacti since I brought it home. This is the only one with any damage.

Unfortunately they've been locked in a room (to stop the cats from destroying them) and this is the first time I've checked on them in a few weeks.

It looks a bit like it just rotted locally. I assume it is mushy?
