Help with yellow/brown hard base on new cactus

Post by Bek »

Hi,

I'm new to this so any help would be much appreciated :). I recently bought some cacti from Dobbies and one of them isn't looking great. I've read through the different posts here but am just not confident in my judgement of what's going on with this! The base of the cactus is brown/yellow and very hard. It looks a lot skinner or shrunken from the top of the cactus, could this still be rot? Should I cut it? I took some pictures (on my phone so not amazing quality) before replanting to show the roots and the base. Thanks :)

Not rotten if it's hard. Normal for the base of some cacti to become woody. The roots look healthy, the top looks healthy - I think it's fine.
