Is this rot?

Post by mickey48 »

I have a cactus that has this rot-like(or is it?) thing. Image
The lower part of the cactus has soft edges on the ribs. Is this rot too? You could see the rib on top a bit pressed-down.

If this is a real problem, could I still save the cactus?
I removed it from its temporary black plastic pot from the store and planned to let the roots dry out for 3 days for re-potting, and now this. Any advice? Thanks!

Looks like scars, probably where offsets were removed at some point. Should be fine.

I agree, they look like old scars that have healed. Maybe insect / slug damage?
Anyway, I agree it should be fine.

No rot. If it is rot, you would know, as it will feel squishy and will be smelly like any rotting fruit will be.
