Marks on Lithops

Hi i have these marks on Lithops sent through mail order. Does anyone know what it is. Is it normal corking?

The plant looks quite pale to me. Is it L. hookeri? Or is it supposed to be pale, like a L. julii? I can't tell from the photo, and the angle it is at. Some marks on Lithops are common if they are grown partially buried. It is possible those are just stone marks, but they look like more than that. So not normal and not great, but so long as it is dry and firm it shouldn't be too much trouble. Maybe the previous owner got a bit enthusiastic removing the dried old leaves. Those leaves ought to disappear soon, and maybe you can grow some better ones :) Or maybe not for a few more months where you live?
