A hole in one

In spring I noticed something different about one of the clumps. A closer look revealed 1/2 half of the clump was rotted. As the summer continued I kept cleaning the rotted area and found out it was sealed and dry and the hole went all the way to the ground. So I'm guessing the rot started maybe two years ago? I guess it is now a drainage hole.
