Small tiny insect
Small tiny insect
It's not a mealybug because I've seen one. It scurries fast and seem to be able to jump/leap/disappear right in front of your eyes. Well, perhaps it's baby mealybugs, I don't know. I wonder if they are the culprit who suck the lives out of my little plump propagation babies. Possible? The much established/mature plant does not seem to be affected. I've been trying to take a picture of those things but they move too fast into hiding when they feel movement (from me trying to angle and aim the camera)
Any idea what they could be? I understand that the range is wide and without a picture makes it even harder.

Re: Small tiny insect
Do they look like this?
See here http://www.empirepestcontrol.co.uk/pests/springtail/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And these ones sort of in between in size and run quite fast see here http://www.uksafari.com/springtails.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It could also be trips if they are running fast but they don't tend to jump.
If they do they are the larger type of spring tails they are harmless. There are another type much smaller a black and usually form little rafts on water where they congragate. See here http://www.empirepestcontrol.co.uk/pests/springtail/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind

Re: Small tiny insect
Thank you so much for the pictures and some names where I can look up. No match yet...and hopefully I can get a picture soon.
Re: Small tiny insect
More important, where do you see them? Thrips would live on the plants (what plants, by the way?), springtails on the soil, fungus gnat larvae would not jump or be fast but the adults may be mistaken for some jumping/running bug and you would see them all over the place.
Z, in (mostly) sunny Lisbon.

Oh they are on my succulents. Actually most of the time I notice them, they were either on the pot or soil.
Re: Small tiny insect
I have 2 pictures -still not very good ones coz it's really tiny. The pot is a 2" pot.

The shape looks like a mealybug but they never (as far as I know) run or jump so I don't know what it is.

Yeah they look like spring tails I have them all over my back garden not just on my cacti. Totally harmless to your cacti.
