When mealy bugs save a cactus.
When mealy bugs save a cactus.
About a week ago, I found a bunch of mealy bugs in my M. Grahamii. At first I sprayed it with some insecticide, but on closer inspection I found a ring of rot around the base (it has been a very wet summer, and the cactus expanded three times its usual size to store all the water). I cut off the rot, killed the mealy bugs, and now I'm allowing plant to grow a strong callus before I re-root it.

There is no cactus you can't eat, but you just might regret it if you eat the wrong one.
Re: When mealy bugs save a cactus.
Do you think my cactus can also be saved?
Re: When mealy bugs save a cactus.
If we could get them to also wave little red flags, because the mealies themselves aren't easy to spot ...

That would be very nice, too bad rot doesn't do that too

Well, I was wrong, the cactus is now dead and gone.
