Rotting? Next steps to treat?

Post by zagoric »

I got this Astrophytum "Super Kabuto Kikkou" and I think I may be killing it.

I got caught up with a bunch of projects and let q shipment of cacti sit bare root longer than I would have preferred. The Harrisia stocks started to shrivel a little, but I got them all potted and they look better. I noticed this one looks off with its color and isn't dark green like the others.

Do you think it's rot? If so, would you recommend cutting off most of the stock in hopes of staying above the rot?

I was thinking of watering to give it a boost, but if it is rot, that's obviously not a good idea.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Have you got any other stocks. Seems like saving the top should take priority over experimenting with the bottom. Or just take it off and wait for another stock, or even wait for it to put down its own roots. Then experiment with the stock :)

Makes sense. I do have other stocks, but I've never grafted myself before...
