Rotting stock?

I returned home and we got and unexpected rain coupled with colder temps (lows in the 50s) while I was away.

A few of the grafts I have on Stenocereus griseus stock are a little soft on the top of the calloused over top of the stock, but this one is showing brown/black spots.

Do you think the stock is shot and I should try to root the scion (assuming it is free of damage)?
