Got this as a gift over the holidays this last year. Pretty sure it was from Home Depot. Whos knows how long it sat on a display shelf indoors.
And after seeing many other C.Strausii photos from the wild and in other collections I dont see many if any that are tapered like this.
The large column is 17 inches tall and 3 inches round and the taper starts a little over half way up. Is it etiolation? Will it eventually correct itself? The small one here is only about 8 inches tall and 2 inches round.

It does look a bit etiolated. Once it gets some proper sun it'll probably end up with a bit of a dumbbell shape to it and remain that way.
If you don't like the aesthetics of it, then once it's been growing normally for a while, just lob off the top and start new cuttings.

I'm hoping it slowly fills out. Wouldn't mind cuttings in the future either but will most likely let it do its thing.
