Hi All
I am a bit of a sucker for buying cactus plants at garage sales.
This one is in bad need of help.
Could not help myself and took this one home.
Set up a rough support, seems very thin in the centre and very top heavy.
There is no way it would stay upright on it own.
Maybe it has collapsed previously ? Ex owner had it leaning against their shed !!
With dark brown spots, almost rot looking in thin part of main section.
Would appreciate any help and advice on what to do here.
Plant is large and prob several years old.
Thanks and best wishes from Tasmania
Cheers
Ek

I prefer the cactus
For the simple reason that it has a more interesting personality.

Your plant looks OK to me. Except for a few blemishes, that most likely were the result of an injury, the growth is appears normal.
Cacti, especially those that are columnar, often show a tendency to lean. Turning the pot around, so the same side of the plant does not always face in the same direction will help to straighten the plant out a bit.
Your main problem is, that the top of the cactus is heavier than the pot and its contents. You could either transplant the cactus into a larger pot or make the pot heavier by placing some stones in it.
