Can someone identify, and why has one grew from the other

Post by 2010sootysweep »

Hi all,

Can someone please help tell me what type of cactus i have and why has one grew out of the other. Also the top bits seems to be bulging at bottom and creating a weird shape? If anyone has info on my issues i would be so grateful.

Looks like Pilosocereus chrysostele, the growth on top seems to have been etiolated from lack of light but now seems to be thickening out, the thin middle will stay though and may need to be cut before it becomes too top heavy and snaps.

If the new growth is slightly off centre it may be the crown went blind and that is an offset produced from a live areole near the crown?
