Wow! Slugs are just so creative in finding ways to destroy cacti [-(

Really nice Astrophytums! What's the secret to your success? I've got a few A. asteria and A. myriostigma seedlings started and I hope I can manage to keep them alive to adulthood.

Good evening Peter,

there is no secret. My success is not 100%.
Outside their homeland, Astrophytum are sometimes moody. . .
They like it very warm and sunny in summer.
Not too cold in winter but sunny.
Always not too wet!!!
Always fresh air, light breeze!!!
Astrophytum seeds germinate very, very well. . .
That is, it takes many seedlings to survive a few plants.
Astrophytum are moody. . .

BUT I love the plants very much!

Best wishes and good luck!!!

Good evening dear cacti friends,

the season is almost over. . .
What should I show now?
I will show photos of days that were not yet an issue.
Days that mean something to me, like the beginning of January (2017).

And there is good news, as every year around this time. . .
Winter solstice on 21.12.2017!
After that, the days are getting longer, warmer and more pleasant.

I am curious as to why you don't grow columnars? I understand space and ease of moving can be an issue but there are small columnars like oreocereus and espostoa and such

Good evening dear cacti friends,

today in the Botanical Garden Cologne.
A day in January 2017.

In the Botanical Garden Cologne trees are taken from the ground.

When the greenhouses are demolished, the trees and palms are endangered.
Then the trees and palms were well packed on the lawn.

Everyone was allowed to take plants with them. But they had to carry away themselves.

B.t.w. I have seedlings of the palms. They are frost hardy to about minus 8 ° Celsius.
So I do not need to bring them to the greenhouse, handy for older people like me. . .

Good evening dear cacti-friends,

today I got an email. "Merry Christmas and best regards ..."!
It's that time again, Christmas is coming!!! :-k
This afternoon I still took pictures without any worries.
But if it's already at the door, friends, then I have to hurry. . .

However, that would have made me sit up and take notice. . . ](*,)
