I doubt that Fenestraria of any age died for lack of ones day's misting. Did they overheat? Rot?
M. herrerae are supposed to be touchy, but I can't kill them for trying. I'm leaving some out in an unheated greenhouse this year. They're not supposed to be frost-hardy. So far they're doing great, but then we've hardly had a frost yet. I suspect they don't like anything resembling a rich soil, and limestone might help to stop them getting too bloated.

Re: Greenknight 2016
Might have been 2 days - I was pretty harried, may have lost track. Definitely not overheating. They went dry, which makes rot unlikely, but I don't know - it was very strange.
There had been mold in the M. herrerae. The pots were well-sterilized, nothing else had any mold or rot - either there were spores on the seed, or it got in while I was sowing the seed. Thought it was under control, but no. Try again next year.

Re: Greenknight 2016
Past time for an update, been over 6 months since the last photos. The cacti didn't grow much during the cold season with the setup I have (except for the Oreocereus), so it's more like 2 months growth for them. None of the Fenestrarias made it, can't seem to get the hang of those. I'm down to one Ferocactus fordii, one Coryphantha maiz-tablasensis, and 3 Lithops salicola - they're not included in this batch of photos.

-
- Echinocereus pulchellus v amoenus - most are transitioning to flattened shape, except one oddball which is the biggest. One late sprouter, skinny one in the lower left.

- S. mirabilis - lost most of them, 7 survive, a couple good strong ones.

-
- Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus v macdowellii - lost a few, still 18. Many were flopping over, sprinkled a bit more gravel on and stood them up. Tedious job.

-
- Turbinicarpus swobodae, earlier planting - all 6 survive, those at the top get hit more by the grow light, bottom 2 are shaded from it by the label. They have a spider guardian.

- Turbinicarpus swobodae, late planting, still bagged - 4 sprouted, but only 2 survive, only one looks promising.

- Strombocactus disciformis - can't see much, but there are 6 strong ones, the rest are pretty puny.

- Titanopsis calcarea, June planted - 3 still live, at bottom of the photo. Growing, but tiny
