Possibly Echinocereus viridiflorus ssp. canus? Flowers as usual would be a help.

Basal hair is produced at first on some other Echinocereus viridiflorus seedlings like E. viridiflorus ssp. neocapillus, but is lost later as the plant changes to the adult spination.
