Has anyone considered grafting cold-hardy but wet-sensitive "ball" cacti (Echinocactus polycephalus, Glandulicactus uncinatus, etc) onto a durable, cold-and-wet tolerant scion like an Echinocereus species, where it would not turn to mush when looked at?
Thanks

I don't see any problem with that and it's definitely worth trying. From what i've seen, the joint area tends to mould sometimes so you might wanna look into that. You can apply amy water repellant (wax for example) to remedy this problem
