Help my dying succulent!

Post by Savannah »

I just recently got a succulent from Walmart a few weeks ago and I have no idea what it is the care guide that came with it just said it needed lots of light and some water every do often. However now it's leaves are shriveling up and I have no idea why. I keep it outside in the sun and water it every few days? How do I help it? Is it the pot?

Well, although I'm not a total expert on succulents, I do think it's pretty normal for the bottom leaves to start to shrivel and fall off as the plant grows. From the pictures the top leaves seem to look pretty good. I would only be alarmed if all the leaves start shriveling and falling suddenly.

Edit: also, fellow user DaveW just posted this nice, readable article about succulents in the general forum. See the topic: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42710
It could be helpful if you're new to succulents!
