blooming cactus

Post by ArtsyPhartsyWoman »

It's outside, full sun, in Florida, in a pot. It's years old but not very tall, maybe 8". Very spiked. It has pupped but this is the first time it's bloomed. Tall stalk with orange flowers. Thanks,

it's probably a Dyckia, or maybe a Hechtia, both in the Bromeliaceae family, so neither cactus nor succulent, though sometimes considered a succulent because of their drought resistance.

The orange flowers might be Dyckia rariflora.
