How do I propagate?

Hi, I'm new to this site, but sure looks like fun. I would like help with this cactus I have that is growing straight up, with no spikes,or anything.How can I get it to produce off spring or shoots,it definately looks lonely the way its growing!It's about 18 inches tall and quite sturdy, any suggestions.

Hi,

Without seeing a photograph of your plant it is impossible to accurately make any decision on propagation.

Many of the columnar cacti remain as solitary stems for many years, some never offsetting.

An obvious and dramatic way of perhaps producing offsets is to behead the plant and use the head as a cutting and the base may well then offset. But I in no way suggest you do this.

Just enjoy the plant as it is, growing naturally.
