I was just wondering why a picture has to smaller than 1800 bites?

To help save server space and to help load the pic faster (some ppl use 56k dial up)

(i need to remember to compress my pics i host on my own server :? )

Yes, the size restriction is to keep from filling up the disc space on the server. There isn't really a need for the site to store larger images. If someone wants to share hi-res photos, a link to an outside host is best.

The upload picture function handles the size automatically, but occasionally a pic won't upload because when it shrinks the size, it still is to big bit-wise... see PM for more details...
