Hi all
I have an old E. rigidissimus var. rubispinus in the ground and it's starting to look really gnarly. The new growth is beautiful though. Does anyone have any experience with taking stem cuttings of this species? It's about twelve inches tall. I would really like to lop off the top few inches and see if I can revitalize the plant. Also hoping of course that the leftover trunk will produce some offsets.
Thanks,
Franj
Echinocereus
My experience in propogating Echinocereus this way has only been through taking an offset. Since most Echinocereus offset so readily, I haven't tried a cutting. I would tend to think it should work. Do you have any multi-headed Echinocereus that you can practice with first?
