Server Down Time Coming

Post by daiv »

Hi all! I got this note today from Tony Mace.
CACTUS-MALL SERVER CUSTOMER ANNOUNCEMENT
We are upgrading the Cactus-Mall server to a significantly larger disk to allows us to implement a couple of new projects for the BCSS.

The work on the server will take place at 2.00 am BST on Saturday 17th May and is expected to take 3 hours. All websites on the Cactus-Mall server will therefore be unavailable for this period.

You Brits will be sleeping, no doubt, but for the U.S. I think this translates to:

11:00PM Eastern
10:00PM Central
9:00PM Mountain
8:00PM Pacific

Not sure about you Aussies -probably mid-day for you?

Anyway, hopefully everyone will see this and not find out the hard way.

Just noticed that Tony's note said:

"Saturday 17th May"

That is going to be a good trick if he means 2009!

Anyway, I guess it will be Saturday here in the U.S. when it happens and the 17th of May over in the UK where Tony is. So in that respect it is accurate.

Ok, I was thinking about how smooth the "down time" thing went. Well apparently, that's because it never happened. Here is an update from Tony Mace:
The work on the server will take place at 1.00 am BST on Saturday 23rd May and is expected to take 3 hours. All websites on the Cactus-Mall server will therefore be unavailable for this period.
