2010 Photo Contest Schedule

January - Mexican Mammillaria Flowers
This topic is all about the flowers of Mexican Mammillarias only.
The goal here is to focus on the flowers, not the plant.
This may require macro settings on your camera or some post edit cropping, but do your best to make the flower the focal point of the frame.

February - Wet Plants
This topic is all about how the plant looks all wet.
After (or during!) a rainstorm or just after a watering shower.
A water drop on a leaf, colorful spines, etc.

March - Clusters/Clumps/Mounds
This topic has to do with all those prolific and cespitose plants.
Small clumps in a 4" pot or a huge mound out in habitat.

April - South American Cacti
This topic reaches out to all the species in South America.
Possible sub-headings may be a certain region or country, a certain genus or...
Excludes Opuntiads and Copiapoa.

May - Opuntiads
This topic is all about our glochid ridden friends.
(You knew there had to be atleast one about Opuntia!)
From the small South American types to the good ole Southwest US Prickly Pear.

June - Favorites
This topic is devoted to your favorites.
Your favorite plant, favorite flower or just a favorite photo. (which may or may not have your favorite plant in it ;) )
Anything goes!

July - North American Cacti
This topic reaches out to all the species in North America.
Possible sub-headings may be a certain region or state, a certain genus or...

August - Night Blooming Cacti
This topic is about all the types that bloom at night.
(Trichocereus/Echinopsis, Peniocereus, Discocactus, etc.)

September - Cephaliums
This topic is devoted to the species that develop a cephalium. (lateral or vertical)
The focus here is the cephalium, not necessarily the plant.

October - Copiapoa
This topic is devoted to the genus Copiapoa.

November - Winter Growers
This topic is all about the winter growing types, which will be some form of succulent.
Flowers, new leaves, etc...

December - Creative Cacti re-visited
This has become a favorite among alot of members and gives you the chance to go completely off the deep end and create ANYTHING IMAGINABLE!
This requires a photo editing program of some sort and some creative thinking on your part.
The title says Cacti, but succulents are still welcomed.
