Contest 39: Discussion & related photos
Please discuss and post any related photos for Contest 39: Mexican Mammillaria Flowers here. Thank you.
I don't grow any of my favorite Mexican Mammillarias when it comes to flowers! Or, they are not yet flowering size. . I'd say probably my favorite Mexican Mam flowers are M. boolii or M. hutchisoniana or M. fraileana. Basically, the huge flowered, hook spined sort. I hope to see some great photos of these types.

When I read this, it made me smile. The theme this month is Mammillaria flowers of species coming from Mexico.
I suppose i should have titled it using endemic. So the species that grow in Mexico and the USA are fair game.
Won't you please allow people to post pics of their M. ekmanii? I'm OK if M. mammillaris is off limits, however.
PS. Just razzin' you man!
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Wow, all of you have phenomenal flowering plant pics. I feel like a pipsqueak with my entry, but figure it is worth a try. The pistils of the plant blew me away - natural color!

PS daiv, for me, M theresae is not a cliche, it is simply beautiful.

Sure, post other Mexican Mammillaria flowers if you like. I was thinking about M. candida because the flowers are quite interesting.
I'd forgotten about M. boolii until Peter mentioned it. Too late now, I already posted something else with big glowers and hooked spines, but here's a couple of them anyway. I don't find the plant itself especially attractive but it does have nice flowers.

Yes, exactly. Just a way to talk about the contest and share other photos without disturbing the submissions thread.Shmuel wrote:Can you please explain about related photos? Are these pics I have of Mammillaria flowers that are of interest, but not my actual entry? Darryl, is that what your gorgeous flower pics are doing here?
Thakns,
